SBS and Sinclair Announce Historic K-Content Partnership at CES 2026
South Korea’s leading terrestrial broadcaster SBS has sealed a strategic partnership with U.S. over-the-air media giant Sinclair Broadcast Group, aiming to bring beloved K-content to millions of American viewers across the country. The two industry leaders signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) focused on expanding global content collaboration on January 8 (U.S. local time) during CES 2026, the world’s largest consumer electronics show, held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Under the terms of the agreement, Sinclair will leverage its state-of-the-art ATSC 3.0 technology — a next-gen broadcasting standard that merges over-the-air signals with high-speed internet — to launch a dedicated K-content channel for U.S. audiences. This marks the first time Korean terrestrial broadcast content will be directly distributed through U.S. over-the-air networks, opening up an entirely new avenue for K-dramas and variety shows to reach American households without relying solely on streaming platforms.
SBS will supply a curated lineup of its top-rated dramas and popular variety programs to populate the new channel, ensuring American viewers get access to some of the most beloved and critically acclaimed K-content available. From hit romantic dramas to side-splitting reality shows, the channel will showcase the best of what SBS has to offer, catering to both long-time K-content fans and curious new viewers.
Beyond content distribution, the partnership also includes plans to collaborate on AI-powered content production and innovative broadcast advertising solutions. Both companies will explore how artificial intelligence can enhance every stage of content creation, from script development to post-production, while also creating targeted ad campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences in both the U.S. and South Korea.
Bang Moon-shin, CEO of SBS, expressed great excitement about the milestone, saying, “We’re absolutely thrilled to bring SBS content to U.S. over-the-air audiences. This partnership means millions more Americans will get to experience the magic of K-dramas and K-variety shows, and we’re proud to be leading the charge in expanding K-broadcast content’s global footprint. Moving forward, we plan to speed up collaborations with other global media groups to share even more K-content with the world.”
Del Parks, Chief Technology Officer of Sinclair, echoed that enthusiasm, noting, “Partnering with SBS, a true pioneer in K-content, is an incredible opportunity. By combining our ATSC 3.0 technology — which delivers seamless, high-quality broadcasting integrated with internet capabilities — with SBS’s world-class content, we can create a completely new viewing experience and redefine how international content is distributed in the U.S. We can’t wait to see how American audiences embrace this exciting new channel.”
